Nanobyte – FKOFd005

FatKidOnFire Presents

We’re now four releases into the FatKidOnFire digital – or FKOFd – label. Each of our releases have reached #2 or higher on the Juno Download Deep Dubstep chart (all thanks to the work of Dubfreq, Subreachers and 11th Hour, AKX and DubApes); which, given the label is a mere five months old, is what we like to think is a pretty amazing feat.

Today, as we celebrate an astounding 1,000,000(!!) streams on our SoundCloud account, we’re beyond stoked to announce our newest EP…

Nanobyte - FKOFd005

And what an EP it is. If you’ve followed us for long enough, you’ll know how much we love the Nanobyte duo – and FKOFd005 cements that with four truly brilliant productions…

“It’s hard to believe, having been witness to the growth and progression of the duo, just how far Nanobyte have come since they first appeared in the FatKidOnFire x MakeItGood feature series in 2012. We first started working with the duo as they reached 600 followers on SoundCloud, celebrating with their now infamous ‘Dem A Talk’ bootleg…

“Two years and many thousands of followers later, Simon and Anthony are still making some of the deepest, most uplifting and melodic dubstep we’ve ever heard. Having made their mark with the ethereal ‘Kalyke’ EP with our friends at Innamind in mid-2012, the duo now join FKOFd with our fifth release – and what might be one of our best yet.

“FKOFd005 has something for everyone with a love of bass music. The four track EP opens with melancholic but inspirational ‘Susurrus’, before ‘Dirt Smuggler’ takes things down a few notches and brings out a bit of menace. ‘Want For Nothing’ is a signature Nanobyte production, full of sparse vocals and floating synths matched by a beautifully smooth bassline. The EP closes with ‘Swoop’, a bright and brash tune that signals to an adventurous new production direction for the duo.”

FKOFd005 is out via Juno on 03/02/14 and goes on general release from all good electronic retailers from the 17/02/14.

As it happens, Nanobyte have been pretty busy recently – and not just with their FKFOd EP. One of their original productions, entitled ‘Industrial Riot’, has been used in the trailer for an all-new Lionsgate movie. The Quiet Ones is in theatres April 25th…

If you’ve missed the news from our first few label announcements, Korrupt and I will be looking after FKOFd – but the rest of the FKOF gang will be keeping an eye and an ear out for exciting bass-led music. Please send us your music to:

We’ll do our best to listen to it all!

And if you’ve been enjoying what we’ve been releasing so far, you’ll be pleased to hear we’ve just finalised FKOFd011. That’s right; there are FKOFd releases sorted until the end of the summer…

Thank you to everyone who’s supported FKOFd so far – including everyone who’s purchased (and continues to purchase) the releases from our retailers. At this rate, FKOFv will be happening significantly quicker than any of us anticipated. Keep it up and it’ll happen!

Peace, love and respect.
