As we approach our two year anniversary, we’ve taken a look back at the catalogue of new music we’ve collected. It’s been an honour to document the producers and music we’ve released and we hope you guys have enjoyed the last two years as much as we have. But there’s only so much you can achieve by looking backwards. Our 23rd release sees us partner with a new producer outfit; a group of musicians who deserve a significant amount of recognition…
“The Dutch trio of Moonstones have been on our radar for a good few months now – in part thanks to Korrupt’s deep integration with his national scene. Not to mention the ridiculously good music coming out of The Netherlands right now. Frank and Koen share production duties, while Dennis joins the group for their strictly vinyl-only DJ appearances (performances that have garnered well-deserved attention and praise). We signed FKOFd023 just as we heard rumours of a vinyl release on Joe Nice’s GourmetBeats imprint – one that’s now appeared (backed with a remix from our very own Malleus as well). If that’s not a cosign you should pay attention to we’re not sure what is!
“FKOF023 announces itself with the truly massive Powernap. If you’re ever in need of a tune to push a sound system to its limits (while rattling your eyeballs), this is the one for you. Clean, simple and as much weight as you can handle. Cupol follows – a FKOFd-esque tune if there ever was one. This one’s a straight roller; with its sub washing over you like waves crashing against the shore and drums hammering like hail during the heaviest of thunderstorms. Murky was one of the first Moonstones productions to catch our attention (and was the first we asked for). We’ve been playing this one for a long time, with its future-facing madness that commands a reload in the dance. Moonstones’ debut release with us ends with Rhino Clash, a sparse yet effective track that’ll keep you coming back for more with its brooding atmospherics and crisp percussion.
“We’re really excited to see what Frank and Koen do with Moonstones tunes in the coming months – as we are with their DJ sets alongside Dennis. If their next few releases are anything to go by, the future’s promising for these guys. We’re delighted to support their efforts and hope you guys enjoy FKOFd023 as much as we do. Get supporting!”
Moonstones’ FKOFd023 is out via Juno on(/ around) 05/10/15 and drops via all other good electronic retailers from 19/10/15.
As always, Korrupt and I will be looking after FKOFd – but the rest of the FKOF gang will be keeping an eye and an ear out for exciting bass-led music. Please send us your music to:
We’ll do our best to listen to it all!
And, as always, we’d like to say a huge Thank You to everyone supporting FKOFd. We wouldn’t be here without you!
Peace, love and respect.
