We’ve been keeping our eyes on the phenomenon that is Movember here from FatKidOnFire HQ. We thought we’d pick three different but all equally commendable Movember campaigns and get them posted for your perusal. If you’ve got any spare shrapnel, get donating – we’re counting up our coppers this afternoon for the same reason!

FKOF fam Mat McIvor and his (two week) effort so far:
This Movember, the month formerly known as November, I’ve decided to donate my face to raising awareness about prostate cancer. My donation and commitment is the growth of a moustache for the entire month of Movember, which I know will generate conversation, controversy and laughter.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. One man dies every hour from the disease in the UK. This is a cause that I feel passionately about and I’m asking you to support my efforts by making a donation to The Prostate Cancer Charity.
To help, you can either:
- Click here and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account. Or,
- Send cheques and CAF vouchers (made payable to ‘The Prostate Cancer Charity Re Movember’) directly to The Prostate Cancer Charity – First Floor, Cambridge House, Cambridge Grove, London W6 0LE. Be sure to include the person’s name on the back of the cheque.
The Prostate Cancer Charity will use the money raised by Movember for the development of programs related to awareness, public education, advocacy, support of those affected, and research into the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of prostate cancer.
For more details on how the funds raised from previous campaigns have been used and the impact Movember is having please visit the Movember Foundation.
Dubstep DJ extraordinaire Plastician after a fortnight:
For the next two weeks I will be donating every penny I earn from mp3 sales on my band camp site to my Movember fund.If you fancy buying some tunes in full hi quality audio including flac and wav, and do a bit for charity, go purchase something from between now and the 1st December.
This includes my 2008 released album, Beg To Differ which contains tracks such as Intensive Snare and Japan. Also all releases on my dig label 21st Data, which includes tracks such as Flying Dagger, The Clouds and Missing.
I will make sure all purchases are represented on my Movember page, so that it is there for all to see just how much you have helped my cause. This will be in the form of a name and an amount purchased. The more you spend, the more I raise for the prostate cancer charity.
Visit my Movember page to see all of the current donations I’ve received up until this point. Thanks everyone!
Please spread the word.
Pull-In x De Gruchy:
French underwear brand Pull-In have joined forces with leading Channel Island’s menswear store De Gruchy for Movember to help raise awareness of men’s health issues, and to raise funds for prostate cancer charities.
Pull-In are well known for their premium quality underwear, and are famous for their eye-catching prints and designs. To celebrate De Gruchy’s involvement in the Movember campaign and help raise funds, Pull-In have produced a run of 300 special limited edition men’s boxers with a Jersey twist which feature images of Jersey cows wearing moustaches, amongst other iconic Jersey images.
Pull-In will donate the full cost of each pair to the Movember campaign. They are available from the De Gruchy store. If you fancy getting yourselves some Pull-In underwear (which you should do – these are amazingly comfy!) hit up their UK distributors Black Leaf.
Pull-In’s special Movember boxers, which has been exclusively produced for De Gruchy, have also been produced to support the store manager, Dominic Bosley’s involvement with the Movember campaign. Last year, as captain of the Jersey Movember team “Mo Money Mo Problems”, Dom was crowned Man of Movember for his sterling Mo-growing efforts. His impressive facial topiary was complemented with another moustache shape shaved into the back of his head. Yesterday, Dom got a trim at Movember’s official barber in the UK, Murdock Barbers in Shoreditch.
He’s going one better than last year by having the Movember coat of arms shaved into his head, as well as having his mo’ trimmed!
Check out Dom’s Movember effort last year on his Mo?Space.
Huge big up to everyone doing Movember this year, mad respect for what you’re all doing!
If you have any thoughts on these Movember campaigns, or anything else you’ve read let us know either via the comments section below or through one of the other forms of contact (email, Twitter and Facebook).
