Drew’s Theory, Congi & M.A.W — MWMV001

FKOF Review

After eight years in operation, the Dutch imprint of MWM-Recordings has announced it’s launching its debut vinyl efforts with a whole new feel to it. The label, as it has always done, will continue to serve a wide underground following with its repertoire, and will be revealing a new suite of bass-infused records in the new year. However, before MWM brings in 2017, the team are readying a release from Miami’s Drew’s Theory, Congi and label boss M.A.W – a collaborative effort that delivers two juicy beats and two stellar remixes…

Drew’s Theory steps up to the plate, presenting his fans with two of his brightest dubstep cuts to date. These originals are backed by mouthwatering remixes from Deep Heads-signees and FKOF fam Congi, and MWM-Recordings’ very own M.A.W.. We had the opportunity to check the release earlier this week, so here’s our thoughts…

FKOF Review

With his debut on MWM, Drew’s Theory quickly pushes his Keep In Mind into the deep by introducing a defined wobble craze. It travels down a unique path of fluid samples that smoothen the tune’s surface. Adding to the producer’s distinctive style that evokes a hip-hop influence, this is a production that will sooth and relax with its welcoming dose of bassweight. Nottingham-based Congi unravel Keep In Mind in a way few others could: a bass-heavy foundation and subtle high notes resonate in that signature Congi style – truly envious style. The producers never fail to amaze with their nearly poetical frequencies!

Drew’s Theory brings hints of reggae and dub to his flip. These inspirations, together with pulsating low-end, sync with a gripping vocal, bringing a warmer vibe to somewhat solemn material – and it’s the flow of Stay The Same that’ll reminisce of those Miami moments. MWM boss M.A.W. hits a darker realm with his reinterpretation. The Dutch producer morphs the bassline into the deep, further into the depths than many fans would normally encounter. The Eastern flute and shakers stay on point and set the right; resulting in a refreshing remix to end the inaugural release on the label’s new imprint…
