It’s been a while since the last ‘New Music…’ post here on FatKidOnFire; but there’s so much ridiculously good music about at the moment I thought it’d be criminal not to compile a few of the best…
If you’re a longtime reader of FKOF, you’ll know of my feelings when it comes to these two. I’ve heard on the grapevine we might be seeing a release of the final track (this one’s a WIP but gives you the idea of where they’re taking it). Another dancefloor killer!
V.I.V.E.K ft. Mel Dymond’s ‘Over My Head’
This one dropped on V.I.V.E.K’s new label, SYSTEMMUSIC, last week and then disappeared again. The hype around this (and ‘Asteroids‘ on the flip) has been truly ridiculous, but deservedly so. With the event going from strength to strength, I’m pretty intrigued to see what comes from the sound system, the label and the man himself. Exciting times…
Kryptic Minds’ ‘Namaste EP’
Few words are needed for this release. Kryptic Minds haven’t released on OSMUK since November’s ‘Rules of Language’/ ‘The Divide’ and OSMUK027EP marks a stellar return to the imprint for the duo. With the interesting move of releasing arguably one of their biggest dubplates, in the form of ‘Badman VIP’, this one is/ was a must bag for any fan of the producers – or dubstep itself. There are few stockists left with a copy, but don’t sleep if you’ve yet to add this to your collection. It won’t be available for long.
Quantum Soul‘s Strong Root
I’ve been listening to this on repeat since Innamind‘s Kursk sent it to me a few weeks back. Quantum Soul’s return to vinyl is a true deliverer; goosebumps every time it gets played in the dance – and more than deserving of the rewind. We’ve been running a comp for the tp and will be announcing the winner next week for everyone who entered, but I for one cannot wait to grab the 12″ when it drops later this month…
Unknown‘s Gotye refix
I’ve loved this cheeky refix since the first time I heard it – and was hoping it to see the light of day. Luckily, new label ‘in the name of kill’ picked it and Unknown’s ‘Neva Believe’ remix up and are now shipping hand-stamped copies – which you can grab from the webstore now.
Anthologic‘s ‘Wayfaring Stranger remix’
A slight chance of pace (and genre) with this one. I’ve been a fan of Ontario’s Anthologic for a while now; and this Jamie Woon remix is testament to his ear and talents. I’m not sure what the status of this one is, but it’s one I’ll be listening to a good few times!
Faithless – Insomnia (Compa‘s 130 Club Mix)
Young Lancashire producer Compa’s continuing his meteoric rise to stardom this year, somehow getting the go ahead to release his 130 ‘Insomnia’ mix. I’ve long had a soft spot for Faithless and this remix showcases Will’s talents for sounds other than those he’s best known for. WXWL003 is due in May as another vinyl-only release. Don’t sleep when it drops!
Info soon come on this one…
Peace, love and respect.
