We’re back with a bang tonight, with an absolute monster of a ‘New Music…’ post for your enjoyment. If you’ve got any music you think we’d dig, be sure to get in touch (email, Twitter, Facebook or the FKOF TakesQuestions page).
We met Lurka for the first time on Friday at Rood FM and Orientis Records’ Re:Fraction event. We may be slow on the uptake with this extremely talented DJ/ producer but we were blown away by his set on Friday – an all wax set with the heaviest mix of bassweight we’ve heard for a long time. ‘Tempted’ out now on Black Box is one of our current favourites.
Next up is the new video from LA hip-hop boys Substance Abuse (no relation to dubstep label Substance Abuse Records). Not much to say about this track; sick beat and sick rhymes – what else do you need from hip-hop?

We’re long time friends and fans of the Dropfellas duo. Their acclaimed night ‘Dark Side of London‘ was one of the first dubstep raves we used to go to and their debut EP blew out the speakers on our stereo. They’re hitting Outlook Festival for the second year running so have just their Outlook mix. It’s massive.

All’s been a bit quiet for the past few months from FKOF resident DJ Robin Dunne. He’s been working on a massive new project based in Central Scotland – but until everything’s confirmed that’s really all we can tell you! All we can you to do is to keep locked on The Drop Off’s Facebook page.
DBD recently dropped their most recent lookbook. Instead of solely shooting video, Chris also went with a video lookbook. With music from Fused Forces (‘Nebulous’ again – can’t wait for that to be released!), the DBD video lookbook is certified hard.
Next Friday (27th May) sees the launch of Family Tree Records – run by our lovely friends Nikki and Tom. TREE001 is from Leeds boy Side-Projekt and a remix from FKOF favourites Fused Forces is on the flip.
New electronic label ‘Family Tree Records’ have handpicked Leeds newcomer, Side-Projekt to step up for the 1st release with his debut release ‘LIFT DUB’. Opening with an infectious organ riff before bursting into a colourful 140bpm barrage of skippy drum patterns, twisted synth melodies and thumping bass stabs, LIFT DUB Infuses elements of various different genres into one fresh slice of dance floor bass music, making both this producer and label ones to watch in the future.
Grab your copy of TREE001 this coming Friday from all good reputable digital music stores!
Peace, love and respect.
