Out and About this weekend…

Out and About this weekend…

It’s been too long since our last ‘Out and About‘ post here at FatKidOnFire – which is in part to do with how busy we’ve been, but also testament to how much we’ve been slacking on getting out and going places. Luckily, for the sake of our social lives and to provide (hopefully entertaining) recaps for you guys, we’re off out this weekend…

Tonight, we’re off to Trix‘ launch night to see Appleblim, Loefah, Lone and Mosca (how’s that for a lineup?!) at one of London’s best undercover venues; Hidden. Trix have been doing some exciting things with the bass music scene for a while now, so it’s safe to say we’re more than a little excited to be heading down to party with the guys.

TRIX is a new addition to London’s underground electronica palette for the house, techno and bass hybrid. The first Trix sees Appleblim and Loefah take to the decks alongside Lone and Mosca, plus Hyperdub’s newest recruit, Ossie. Eglo Records’ Alexander Nut is joined by label mates Arp101 and Funkineven, with the soulful live vocals of Fatima for the broken-beat, funky, house and jazzy sounds that populate Eglo’s ongoing Rinse FM residency. Expect a surprise world-exclusive guest DJ in the Eglo room.

The launch night is made even better by the fact it’s at Hidden. If you’ve never been there, slap yourself and then get down at the next available opportunity. Trust us, it is awesome. You’ve been warned.

If you fancy coming tonight, peep the FB event page here, come down for doors opening at 10pm and you can grab tickets for less than a tenner from RA or from Trix themselves. Alternatively, cop tickets OTD for £10. Come down and say hi, we’re rolling with the Fused Forces/ Acute Promotions/ Family Records/ MakeItGood crew!

Then tomorrow morning (hangover and other commitments permitting) we’re jumping on the coach to Bristol to join some of the finest independent brands/ stores/ artists at a “Streetwear Clothing and Arts Fair” that’s going on in the Union.

Featuring Mens and Womens clothing from the biggest and best names in Bristol; Cooshti, Myyard, Seven Store, Fifty Fifty, ANDWOT, Only20, Curio, Dutty, Donuts, Angry Daves and Antidote.

…And with a little help from a few imports as well, Vilainous Visard, Studio Rudo, Sutsu and Foksu!

The event will also see some of the freshest artwork on road, from the likes of PARIS, INKIE, CHINA MIKE and JIM STARR, up on display and for sale, for your viewing and spending pleasure!

The event is completely free (well, entry is – if you spend loads on the awesome brands who’ll be showcasing there it won’t be), has some awesome DJs providing the music and is running from 10am to 5pm at the Union. For more information, direction details and everything else you’ll need to attent, head over and take a look at the event page on Facebook.

Peace, love and respect.
